MikroTik: ISP Core Network Setup with MikroTik
Establishing an ISP Core Network with MikroTik RouterOS, incorporating BGP, OSPF, VLAN, MPLS, VPLS, and PBR protocols.
Description
When dealing with MikroTik, many engineers incorporate their products into their ISPs. However, a crucial question arises: are you fully leveraging the extensive features MikroTik offers to provide additional solutions to your customers?
To address this, I've developed a comprehensive course to guide you in constructing a core network for an ISP using MikroTik routers. I will walk you through the process of configuring the ISP from the ground up, covering the following key steps:
- Setting up BGP peers with the uplink ISP
- Publishing the public IP subnet, configuring VLAN's between all core routers
- Setting up OSPF in the core network
- Provide customers which public IP addresses allow them to go to the internet
- Providing intranet solution using MPLS/VPLS
- Assigning bandwidth speed to each customer
- Reaching each customer router using a management VLAN
All the topics mentioned will be covered in this course. Please note that I won't dive into the theoretical aspects of each protocol. I assume that if you're taking this course, you already possess a working knowledge of how these protocols function.
This course is entirely focused on practical labs, utilizing 7 MikroTik routers on GNS3 with CHR images. If you prefer, you can replicate the same scenarios on real MikroTik equipment.
Ultimately, my goal is for this course to help you establish a robust core network in your ISP. I look forward to having you onboard and guiding you through the content.
